Our History
1846
The idea of a Masonic Home for Maryland is presented. Discussions continued for nearly a century as the plan takes shape.
1921
Approval received for construction of the Maryland Masonic Homes.
1927
Bonnie Blink is purchased by the Grand Lodge of Maryland. The sale included a 293-acre farm with a barn and a mansion. Bonnie Blink – which means beautiful view in Scottish – preserved its name from the premier location and magnificent views that overlook the Hunt Valley area even today.
1931
Groundbreaking of Maryland Masonic Homes.
1933
The grand opening of the newly built Maryland Masonic Homes is halted for a year due to the Great Depression.
1934
Maryland Masonic Homes opens, offering an infirmary and dormitory that serves Master Masons and their families.
Today
Located on a beautiful campus, Maryland Masonic Homes is a premier retirement community welcoming all. It offers exceptional care and services in an exciting and warm environment to each of its residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care.
In 2022, Maryland Masonic Homes introduced fresh, new branding. Our new logo features a tree with vibrant leaves and clean, modern text. This tree symbolizes our commitment to our mission of helping all who walk through these doors to reach their life’s potential. This tree also embodies our commitment to environmental stewardship/sustainability, our efforts to pursue continued growth, and our strong history of positive therapeutic goals and outcomes.
